Many people consider charisma to be a natural trait. At Eagle Eye Events, we disagree. Certainly some individuals have an easier time becoming charismatic, but everyone is able to develop this quality. There are a few strategies you can employ to almost immediately become more engaging.
Start by being more open about how you feel. Of course, this is a lot easier said than done, but it’s worthwhile. Individuals who are more emotionally open are easier to trust and more identifiable. There is definitely such a thing as sharing too much, but being open and honest about how you feel can go a long way.
Similarly, using vocabulary that people can easily relate to is a great for developing charisma. Don’t use lofty, esoteric language. Instead, pick your words so that you can be clearly understood. This may sound like silly advice, but a lot of professionals tend to use too much jargon. Speak in a down-to- earth and sincere manner.
Lastly, mirror other people’s actions and behaviors. During a conversation mimic what the other person is doing. This isn’t to say that you should rudely copy every move. However, if he or she is standing with a very open stance, do the same. If he or she is leaning in for a more personal interaction, copy that. This will help others see you as one of their own.
These approaches are actually scientifically proven to help build charisma. As we have learned at Eagle Eye Events, this quality is extremely important in business, so start working on it today.
